Joko Anwar first met music directors Aghi Narottama and Zeke Khaselli when the two held a gig with their band, LAIN, in 2002. Joko was covering the event for The Jakarta Post and immediately announced LAIN as one of his favorite local bands. Zeke with his other band, ZEKE AND THE POPO, and Aghi with his APE ON THE ROOF contributed to the sounctrack of Joko Anwar's film, Janji Joni. The album became an important milestone for indie music scene in Indonesia.

For KALA, Aghi and Zeke merge their usual electronic experimentation with a homage to film noir music score. The result is a stylishly unpredictable ride with a dark, atmospheric texture and not without a sense of humor.

KALA also features new songs from the most respectable indie bands including SORE, ZEKE AND THE POPO, and if course, LAIN.
